The presentations in this video apply to beginning readers, most of whom are children in kindergarten, first, or second grade - about ages 5-7. Suggestions are given for reading aloud to a child, showing that a parent values reading, setting a good example by reading regularly, talking with children about what they have read, and by taking advantage of the many resources for literacy found in the typical community. An overview of the other videos included on the tape or disk is also given.
